Armenia is a versatile destination that you can explore all year round, but the best time to travel depends on your interests.
Spring (April-June): Nature awakens and colours the valleys green. Temperatures are pleasant, and it is still relatively quiet. This season is ideal for visiting cultural sites such as the monasteries of Geghard and Echmiadzin, or for hiking in natural areas such as Dilijan National Park. Yerevan, the capital, is also at its best then: lively, but not yet too hot.
Summer (July - August): The warmest period of the year. Especially in the lowlands and in Yerevan, temperatures can reach above 35°C. This is a good time to cool down at Lake Sevan or in the mountains of southern Armenia. There are many festivals, open-air concerts and religious celebrations during these months, adding to the lively atmosphere. However, bear in mind the heat and slightly more domestic tourism.
Autumn (September - October): Temperatures are once again mild, colouring nature in warm hues. This is the perfect time for those who love tranquillity, culture and culinary experiences. Harvest time brings pomegranates, grapes and local wine to the markets, and the mountain landscapes are spectacular. Autumn is great for touring, trekking and visiting historic villages and monasteries at leisure.
Winter (November - March): It is cold, especially in mountainous areas, but also brings a different charm. Tsaghkadzor, a popular ski resort, offers opportunities for winter sports. In Yerevan, cafes, museums and the snowy views of Mount Ararat provide an atmospheric winter experience. Although some mountain roads are less accessible, it is a good time for a city break or a combination of culture and snow.
