Summer (June - August): Summer can be very hot, especially in the desert and inland areas. This is the season for sun lovers who want to enjoy the Red Sea in Aqaba or relax by the Dead Sea. Highlands such as Amman are slightly cooler, but active trips in the desert are not recommended due to the heat.
Autumn (September - November): An excellent travel time with milder temperatures and pleasant evenings. Ideal for outdoor activities such as jeep tours in Wadi Rum, trekking and exploring cultural sites. The crowds are also less than in spring.
Winter (December - February): Winter is cooler, especially in the north and the mountains where it can even snow. 3. Is Ramadan held in Jordan?
Yes, Ramadan is held in Jordan. Muslims fast during this period from sunrise to sunset, pray more often and give alms. Ramadan falls in a different period every year. Life during this period is a bit slower than normal. Outside the accommodations, there is often little food/drink available and at some attractions, stricter rules are imposed from the government. 4. Are there certain dress codes in Jordan?
Modest clothing is appreciated in Jordan: cover shoulders and knees in public areas. Wear beachwear only on beaches or near swimming pools. When visiting religious sites, there are mandatory dress codes for both men and women. For instance, long trousers/dresses must be worn with ankles covered and shoulders must also be covered at all times. Shoes should often be taken off before entering and women must cover their heads.
5. Will English be all right in Jordan?
Yes, English is spoken in many places, especially in tourist areas, hotels and restaurants. Arabic is the official language, but most people in tourist areas can get by well in English.
