A world of contrasts
India is a land of extremes, where vast deserts, tropical beaches, snow-capped mountain peaks and lush jungle areas converge. From the sacred Ganges to the verdant tea fields of Darjeeling and the palms of Kerala, India's natural riches are as diverse as they are impressive.

North India: culture and spirituality
The north is home to a wealth of temples, palaces and spiritual centres. Visit the iconic Taj Mahal in Agra, wander the colourful streets of Jaipur and experience India's spiritual heart in Varanasi, where rituals on the banks of the Ganges make a deep impression. The Himalayas also offer plenty of opportunities for trekking and yoga retreats in places like Rishikesh.

South India: tranquillity and tropical splendour
South India surprises with its serene landscapes, tropical vegetation and relaxed atmosphere. Explore the historic temple towns of Madurai and Hampi, take a boat trip through the backwaters of Kerala, or relax on the beaches of Goa. Here, Ayurveda, spirituality and nature come together harmoniously.

Vibrant cities and rich traditions
Cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata are bursting with energy and cultural contrasts. From colonial buildings to ultramodern districts, chaotic markets to tranquil parks, each city tells its own story. Local cuisines are also an adventure in themselves, with flavours ranging from mild to intensely spicy.

Travelling through India
India is best explored with an open mind and a flexible itinerary. From luxury trains to colourful tuktuks, mountain passes to coastal roads, travelling through India is an experience in itself. The country offers a perfect blend of culture, nature, spirituality and hospitality, a destination that surprises, amazes and stays with you.

India is a land of contrasts, not only in culture and landscape, but also in climate. The best travel time depends a lot on the region you want to visit and the experiences you are looking for. Here is an overview by season:

Spring (February - April): One of the most pleasant times to travel through India. The weather is warm but not yet too hot, and many regions are in bloom. Ideal for visiting the Golden Triangle (Delhi, Agra, Jaipur), the palaces of Rajasthan or trekking in the lower Himalayas. Festivals like Holi also provide colourful cultural experiences.

Summer (May - June): It can get extremely hot in the lowlands, but this is the perfect time to visit the cooler mountain areas, such as Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh or Sikkim. Here you will find impressive mountain landscapes, monasteries and hiking trails. The rest of India often experiences drought and high temperatures well above 40°C.

Monsoon (July - September): The rainy season brings coolness and makes the landscape come alive, especially in the south and rural areas. The backwaters of Kerala, the Western Ghats and the region around Goa are at their greenest then. Do bear in mind heavy rains and possible transport delays.

Autumn (October - November): A very popular travel period. The monsoon is over, the air is fresh and temperatures are pleasant. Perfect for touring North India, visiting spiritual places like Varanasi, or safari in national parks like Ranthambore. Festivals like Diwali also make this period extra special.

Winter (December - January): This is when it is cool to cold in the north, especially in the Himalayas and the desert of Rajasthan, but it is wonderfully warm in the south and west. This is high season for a beach holiday in Goa, an ayurvedic retreat in Kerala or a cultural tour of Tamil Nadu. Winter is also perfect for visiting India's major cities without the summer heat.

Note that India is vast and has large climate differences by region. For a comfortable trip, the transitional seasons, spring and autumn, are often the most pleasant, especially if you want to combine several regions.
