Saudi Arabia trip | Round trip wondrous Saudi Arabia

This is a marvellous journey where you’ll experience all the different highlights of Saudi Arabia. The contemporary culture of the capital, Riyadh, showcases modern Saudi Arabia with its contemporary hotels and restaurants. You’ll discover the contrast between modern high-rises and historic landmarks. In Al Ula , you ’ll experience ancient desert civilisations: you’ll explore remarkable rock formations featuring gigantic tombs from the Nabataean era carved into the rock faces and take a walk along the Oasis Heritage Trail. Of course, a desert experience in a 4x4 is a must. To make the desert experience truly complete, you’ll spend the night in the middle of the desert, where you can admire a magical starry sky after sunset. You will then travel on to Medina, Islam’s second most important city. You’ll spend the night in the heart of the city, where you can witness the spectacle of the pilgrims and discover more about the history of this religion. The pilgrimage city exudes an indescribable, spiritual atmosphere. Finally, you’ll take the ultra-high-speed train to the liberal coastal city of Jeddah. Here, you’ll visit the Tayebat Museum, pick up some seafood at the local market and round off the day with a Saudi picnic.

Riyadh

The glittering city of Riyadh, perched high on a desert plateau, is the political and business capital of Saudi Arabia, as well as one of the most prosperous cities in the modern world. What was once a small desert oasis in the heart of the Arab world is now a major metropolis thriving with industry, luxury hotels and sprawling luxury shopping malls packed with upmarket designer boutiques and world-class restaurants. Ancient mosques sit alongside imposing ultra-modern skyscrapers, shady trees and date palms line the avenues, and the occasional camel can be seen parked next to luxury vehicles. Spend your days visiting the National Museum, where you can discover the city's rich Arab heritage; whizz up a high-speed lift to the top of the Kingdom Tower Sky Bridge, where you can see breathtaking views of the city and beyond; or ride a camel into the desert where you can interact with the famously friendly nomadic Bedouins.

Jeddah

Jeddah borders the Red Sea in western Saudi Arabia. It is the kingdom's second-largest city and an important commercial centre. Jeddah is the main access point, either by air or sea, for pilgrims making the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina, Islam's two most holy cities. The city is also known for its sprawling, glitzy shopping streets, excellent restaurants and cafes, as well as the Jeddah Corniche. This waterfront area is dotted with world-class hotels, some beautiful beaches and a host of luxury resorts. The main tourist attraction is the old city, known as al-Balad, where visitors can explore a maze of old buildings and traditional souks, as well as the teetering multi-storey houses made of coral, for which the city is famous. Another major highlight is the spectacular diving with remarkable visibility and virtually untouched coral reefs that play host to an abundance of colourful aquatic life.

Located in the Middle East, gigantic Saudi Arabia is known for its endless deserts and fiery oil fields. However, the country surprises with its diversity and extraordinary sights. Be amazed by the beauty of the Al Ahsa oasis; a green paradise next to the immense sands of the Empty Quarter. Dive into history at Al Jouf, Tabuk and Al-Turaif, or spend the night in the Al Nafud desert. Culture buffs will enjoy Al Ula; a living museum with hundreds of years of Arab history. The Asir Highlands offer green hilly landscapes and breathtaking views. Enjoy in dynamic major cities, such as Damman, Jeddah and Riyadh, full of interesting museums, modern architecture and bustling souqs. A spectacular winding mountain road takes you to Taif, also called City of Roses and Saudi's unofficial capital in summer. Finish your trip by the Red Sea, perfect for beach relaxation and diving excursions in deep blue waters.

Medina

The city of Medina, located in the Hejaz region in western Saudi Arabia, is known as the second holiest city in the Islamic world after Mecca. The city hugs the rugged hills of the beautiful Uhud Mountains and stretches along a fertile oasis. Medina is known as the home of Islam's history and is a holy city for Islam. This spiritual city has the huge Al-Masjid an-Nabawi Prophet Mosque, a major Islamic pilgrimage site, where only Muslims are allowed. It comes alive with busy crowds during the Hajj pilgrimage season. Although there is limited access to the city centre, the outskirts and surroundings of Medina are available for all visitors to explore.

Al Ula

Al Ula, located about 300 kilometres northeast of Medina and about 110 kilometres southwest of Tayma, in northwestern Saudi Arabia, is a city rich in ancient treasures. Numerous sites from centuries ago are scattered across the area. Mada'in Saleh, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is known as the second largest capital of the Nabataeans and houses tombs decorated with beautiful etchings carved into the stone. Another must-see is the atmospheric historic village of Al Deerah, an extensive network of ruins of stone houses inhabited eight centuries ago. There are also numerous museums to explore, offering insights into the area's abundant heritage.
