Trinidad & Tobago

Nicknamed 'Land of the Hummingbird', the republic of Trinidad and Tobago consists of two main islands and a large number of satellite islands in the far southern Caribbean Sea, just off the coast of Venezuela. Trinidad is also known as the 'Rainbow Island' because of its melting pot of cultural influences. It is mainly shaped by its proximity to Venezuela, reflected in the island's cuisine, traditions and lively parang music. It is a lively destination with a vibrant nightlife with regular nightlife, the debauched Carnival Festival and a range of smaller annual events. Tobago, in the northeast, has four very different coasts, each with its own charms, including an abundance of idyllic palm-fringed beaches. It also has beautiful natural surroundings - visitors can look forward to secluded beaches, scenic hiking trails and superb birdwatching.

Tobago

The lush and laid-back island of Tobago is the smaller and less developed of the two islands that make up the Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago. While the eastern side of the island has the oldest protected rainforest in the Western Hemisphere, the western side has beautiful beaches with powder-white sand, crystal-clear turquoise waters and coral reefs teeming with marine life. Tobago is known for its luxury resorts, exceptional snorkelling and diving opportunities and intriguing Afro-Creole culture and lifestyle. If you are looking for archetypal Caribbean beaches, exotic wildlife and some peace and quiet, this little slice of paradise is the place to be.

Trinidad

Trinidad is the busiest of the two islands that make up the Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago. Bursting with unparalleled spirit and an amazingly eclectic culture, the island is known for its annual carnival celebrations and its vast, untouched areas of lush forest and swampland. This pristine wilderness supports some of the world's best bird watching, particularly in the rainforest at the Asa Wright Nature Centre and the Caroni Bird Sanctuary marsh. Don't miss the chance to relax on the island's beautiful beaches along the north coast, with peachy sand, clean blue-green waters and the forest-covered Northern Range in the background. Other notable attractions include the spectacularly scenic Maracas Falls and the Magnificent Seven, a row of early 20th-century Trini-Creole colonial mansions.

Port of Spain

Port of Spain is the vibrant capital of Trinidad and Tobago, situated on a natural harbour along the Gulf of Paria on the north-west coast of the island of Trinidad. As the country’s cultural and commercial centre, it blends colonial heritage with modern city life and a rich multicultural identity. Visitors can explore colourful markets, museums and galleries, stroll through Queen’s Park Savannah, and admire the historic Magnificent Seven mansions. The city is also renowned as the birthplace of the steelpan and as the host of one of the Caribbean’s largest Carnival celebrations. With its harbourfront location, diverse cuisine and proximity to beaches, rainforest landscapes and the Northern Range, Port of Spain is a convenient base for exploring Trinidad.
