Jeddah
Jeddah borders the Red Sea in western Saudi Arabia. It is the kingdom's second-largest city and an important commercial centre. Jeddah is the main access point, either by air or sea, for pilgrims making the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina, Islam's two most holy cities. The city is also known for its sprawling, glitzy shopping streets, excellent restaurants and cafes, as well as the Jeddah Corniche. This waterfront area is dotted with world-class hotels, some beautiful beaches and a host of luxury resorts. The main tourist attraction is the old city, known as al-Balad, where visitors can explore a maze of old buildings and traditional souks, as well as the teetering multi-storey houses made of coral, for which the city is famous. Another major highlight is the spectacular diving with remarkable visibility and virtually untouched coral reefs that play host to an abundance of colourful aquatic life.

Red Sea
On the west coast of Saudi Arabia lies the breathtaking Red Sea, a true paradise for adventurers and nature lovers. These vast, azure-blue waters are home to some of the best-preserved coral reefs in the world, ideal for divers and snorkellers wishing to discover a vibrant underwater world. From colourful tropical fish and sea turtles to impressive reef sharks, the Red Sea offers an unrivalled experience for both beginners and experienced divers.
Along the coast, you’ll find a mix of modern resorts and unspoilt beaches, perfect for those who want to relax in the warm sun and enjoy the crystal-clear waters. The cities of Jeddah and Yanbu are popular bases from which to explore the region, offering a range of luxurious accommodation, restaurants and cultural attractions.
As well as diving, the Red Sea offers many more adventures. From windsurfing and kayaking to a peaceful boat trip across the calm waters, there’s something for everyone. Birdwatchers can enjoy the spectacle of thousands of migratory birds calling at the coast during their journeys, whilst the warm breeze accompanies them.
For history and culture enthusiasts, the Red Sea region also offers a fascinating insight into Saudi Arabia’s rich heritage. Visit ancient harbours and archaeological sites that illustrate the trade routes of yesteryear, or take an excursion into the nearby desert for an experience that perfectly brings together the natural and cultural diversity of this unique country.
Whether you’re seeking adventure, relaxation or a deeper connection with nature, Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea promises an unforgettable journey full of discoveries.
Saudi Arabia
Located in the Middle East, gigantic Saudi Arabia is known for its endless deserts and fiery oil fields. However, the country surprises with its diversity and extraordinary sights. Be amazed by the beauty of the Al Ahsa oasis; a green paradise next to the immense sands of the Empty Quarter. Dive into history at Al Jouf, Tabuk and Al-Turaif, or spend the night in the Al Nafud desert. Culture buffs will enjoy Al Ula; a living museum with hundreds of years of Arab history. The Asir Highlands offer green hilly landscapes and breathtaking views. Enjoy in dynamic major cities, such as Damman, Jeddah and Riyadh, full of interesting museums, modern architecture and bustling souqs. A spectacular winding mountain road takes you to Taif, also called City of Roses and Saudi's unofficial capital in summer. Finish your trip by the Red Sea, perfect for beach relaxation and diving excursions in deep blue waters.
Taif
Taif is a city in Mecca province in southwestern Saudi Arabia, close to the coast. Its mild climate is its main attraction, and the king spends his summers there to take a break from the humidity of Riyadh. The 3,000 green parks scattered around the city make Taif very popular with families, and every evening the lawns are filled with picnickers and shisha smokers. The Shubra Palace, with its intricate latticed windows and marble balconies and interiors, is the biggest landmark, with extraordinary artefacts from the Islamic and pre-Islamic periods. The city is known for its flowers and is home to the incredible 120-year-old Al Gadhi Rose Factory. Other highlights include: the spectacular Al Wahbah Crater, the energetic Gazzaz market and the five-star Jouri Mall.

Asir Region
Set in the southwest of Saudi Arabia, the Asir Region stretches along the eastern shores of the Red Seas, over a high plateau which is home to the country's highest peaks. The landscape is characterised by dense coniferous forests with exposed dry ridges and endless lowlands. The vast coastal plains of Asir are home to swathes of agricultural lands covered mainly in wheat and fruit crops. Highlights include: Jabal Sawda Peak, said to be the highest in the country; the capital city of Abha and Aseer National Park, a vast park encompassing scenic coastline, desert and mountains which are inhabited by a wide selection of wildlife.
Al Bahah
The city of Al-Bahah is the capital of the region of the same name and lies in western Saudi Arabia. It is one of the greatest jewels in the country. The first and most famous attraction is the ancient village of Zee Ain (or Dhi Ayn), an extremely well-preserved 400-year-old settlement. Also known as the 'Marble Village', it is home to extraordinary multi-storey houses made entirely from stones laid and fitted against each other. The town boasts wonderful fruit plantations which continue to support its local farmers after hundreds of years. Al Bahah also boasts several other historic sites, including the impressive traditional towers, whose function is still argued over today. The town is surrounded by several small forests of ancient trees, supported by streams that run through the year.
Abha
Located in southwestern Saudi Arabia, Abha is the capital of Asir province. It is dominated by the majestic mountains of Asir National Park, which is covered with lush juniper forests that provide habitat for a rich array of wildlife, including numerous bird species. Visitors can look forward to a cable car ride to Jabal Soodah peak, the highest mountain in Saudi Arabia; a visit to the Wadi Mahala; and views of the 'hanging village' in the nearby Al-Habala Valley. Other highlights include: exploring the mud-walled Shada castle in historic Abha and viewing the 300-year-old traditional mud and stone houses in Al Nasb and Al Bastah. Don't miss a visit to the village of Al-Muftaha, home to the King Fahd Cultural Centre, the Archaeological Centre, the Al Muftaha Theatre and a weekly market with crafts and curiosities.
