Philipsburg

Philipsburg, tucked away in the south-eastern part of the island of Sint Maarten, is the capital of the Caribbean island of Sint Maarten. This small port city is known as an attractive stop for many cruise ships and as one of the best places in the Caribbean for duty-free shopping. Philipsburg consists of five parallel streets stretching across a narrow stretch of land running between Great Bay and Salt Pond. The cobbled streets are lined with quaint, pastel-coloured West Indian houses, as well as numerous shops, cafes, hotels and courtyards filled with flowers. The city also has a few Dutch colonial monuments, including Fort Willem, built in 1801, and Fort Amsterdam, built almost 200 years earlier.

Saint Martin

The island of Saint Martin, located east of Puerto Rico in the beautiful Caribbean Sea, is divided between two countries: France and the Netherlands, consisting of the northern French side, known as Saint Martin and the southern Dutch side, called Sint Maarten. More relaxed than its Dutch counterpart, Saint Martin is known for its beautiful white-sand beaches, secluded bays, mountainous landscape and relaxing seaside resorts. Visitors can look forward to exploring the streets of bustling Marigot, Saint Martin's cosmopolitan capital; soak up the natural beauty of the surrounding unspoilt countryside and sample delicious French Caribbean culinary delights. Other popular activities include: ziplining, horse riding, hiking and a range of exciting water sports.

Saint Martin

Sint Maarten, part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, is a country on the southern part of a Caribbean island shared with Sint Maarten, a French overseas collectivity. The Dutch side of the island boasts excellent casino hotels and a surprisingly vibrant nightlife. Visitors can wander the cobbled streets of the vibrant capital Philipsburg, with its colourful colonial-style buildings and its array of popular duty-free shops selling jewellery and liquor. With towering Mount Flagstaff as a picturesque backdrop, this unique island destination offers delicious fusion cuisine, pristine beaches, a warm year-round climate and a cosmopolitan atmosphere with a Caribbean twist. Water sports enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice with a wide range of activities, including diving, snorkelling, parasailing, jet-skiing and windsurfing.

Rendezvous Bay

Rendezvous Bay is located on the southern coast of the Caribbean island of Anguilla. This pristine area offers the perfect beach holiday experience, with soft white sands, turquoise waters and exciting activities to enjoy. Contact Sunkiss Adventure Living for boat tours and water sports like skiing, diving and snorkelling, while the nearby Anguilla Tennis Academy provides another option for active travellers. Those travelling with kids will relish the chance to interact with sea creatures at Dolphin Discovery, and another recommended activity is to take a boat trip to the other side of the island to visit Scilly Cay. Finally, along with a number of great resorts in Rendezvous Bay, don't miss the chance to try some of the local beachside eateries (such as Sun Shine Shack) - which are renowned for their fresh seafood dishes.

Soufriere

On the south-west coast of Dominica lies the tranquil village of Soufrière, the capital of Saint Mark Parish, surrounded by volcanic peaks, lush rainforests and unspoilt waters. Notable landmarks include the 18th-century Roman Catholic Church of St Mark in Soufrière, built from volcanic rock, and the remains of the L. Rose Lime Oilfactory, established in 1884, where lime oil was produced from local citrus fruits. Although the factory was destroyed by Hurricane David in 1979, some of the machinery and buildings still stand. The invigorating hot springs at nearby Sulphur Springs and the picturesque Scotts Head Peninsula – an excellent spot for snorkelling and diving at the southernmost tip of Dominica – add to the island’s appeal.

Cul-de-Sac Bay

Situated on the sheltered north-east coast of French Sint Maarten, Cul-de-Sac Bay offers a quieter side of the island. The calm, turquoise waters and mangrove-lined shores create a relaxed and laid-back atmosphere. The bay is the main departure point for boat trips to the nearby islets of Pinel and Tintamarre, making it a popular spot for snorkelling, kayaking and discovering secluded beaches with a rich underwater world.
Gentle breezes create small ripples on the shallow water, whilst seabirds glide above the bay, adding to the serene atmosphere. Quaint waterside restaurants and the friendly local community give Cul-de-Sac its understated charm. Cul-de-Sac Bay is ideal for travellers who want to combine nature, light-hearted adventures and easy access to some of Sint Maarten’s most beautiful islets and beaches.
