Bridgetown
Bridgetown is not only the capital of Barbados; it is also the island's only city and home to more than half of the country's friendly locals. This busy stop for cruise ships is known for its excellent duty-free shops, impressive British colonial architecture, 17th-century garrison and popular horse racing track. Steeped in rich history and culture, Bridgetown today offers an enchanting mix of old and new, with historic UNESCO World Heritage sites and buildings blending seamlessly with some beautiful modern architectural structures. The city also boasts the azure waters and powder-white sands of Carlisle Bay, as well as numerous world-class restaurants, all in an idyllic island setting with blue skies, palm trees and the country's only natural harbour.

Barbados
Barbados, the easternmost of the Caribbean islands, is a traveller's paradise, blessed with lush vegetation, friendly people, excellent restaurants and idyllic palm-fringed beaches - wild and windswept in the south and east, pristine and tranquil in the north and west. Once a British colonial outpost, much of this history is reflected in the country's architecture, street names and passion for cricket. There is a huge amount to see and do in Barbados: take a jeep safari to the untamed east coast, known for its world-class surfing, or head to the rugged south coast, where secluded coves are surrounded by sheer cliffs. If you prefer something quieter, the north and west coasts are your thing, powder-fine white sandy beaches transitioning into serene coves perfect for swimming and snorkelling. Barbados' capital, Bridgetown, has excellent shopping and sightseeing, while the island's relatively flat interior is dotted with beautiful gardens, verdant nature reserves, shimmering caves and breathtaking viewpoints.

Speightstown
Speightstown is a port on the northwest coast of Barbados and one of the island's largest towns. Its vibrant, friendly atmosphere is complemented by beautiful beaches, great restaurants and elegant colonial architecture - slightly weathered but still stately. Stroll down Queen Street to see the city's historic buildings, or delve into its intriguing past at the Arlington House Museum. The picture-perfect Mullins Beach is a hotspot for jet skiing; Heywoods Beach is quiet and secluded. Speightstown Esplanade is a lovely place to enjoy the sunset, while after dark you can enjoy the city's vibrant nightlife - or arrange a tour of hawksbill turtle nesting sites along the coast.

Saint Peter
Situated in the north-west of beautiful Barbados is the parish of Saint Peter. Stretching from the west to the eat of the island, this charming hamlet is home to many natural wonders, offering visitors everything from flourishing rolling hills and sugar cane plantations to pristine white sand beaches and inviting crystal Caribbean waters. Notable attractions include the acclaimed Barbados Wildlife Reserve, the seventeenth-century Farley Hill national park, and the colourful landscapes of Sugarland Gardens. A must-see is the major city of Speightstown, a bustling hub boasting an abundance of historical landmarks, including the magical home and rum plantation of St Nicholas Abbey and the informative Arlington House Museum.
