Iguazu Falls

Foz do Iguazu, the world's largest set of waterfalls, is located in northern Argentina, in a border triangle of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. The Iguazu Falls are the world's most powerful waterfalls. There is nowhere else in the world where such a huge mass of water falls down simultaneously. The falls lie in the middle of a green jungle full of monkeys, toucans and caimans. Long before the Spanish and Portuguese colonised the area, the Guarani Indians lived in this region. 'Iguazu' in Guarani language means big water. This magnificent waterfall marks the confluence of the Iguazu River in Argentina and the Parana River in Brazil.

Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro is a world-class city! This metropolis, where (beach) life goes on 24 hours a day, has so much to offer that even the ‘Cariocas’, the residents of ‘Rio’, cannot decide when asked to name their favourite feature of their city. Rio lies on a strip of land approximately 24 kilometres long, nestled between the mountains and the sea; lush greenery on one side and vibrant blue on the other. It is home to a population of 8 million who seem to have a monopoly on the concept of ‘Beach Beauties’: beach culture was invented in Rio.
The world-famous, 38-metre-high statue of ‘Christ the Redeemer’ stands high on the summit of Corcovado Mountain, from where it embraces the city in its arms and blesses it with an all-seeing eye. Sugar Loaf, the mountain shaped like a loaf of sugar, is one of Brazil’s most photographed sights.
Then there are the beaches; the best known and most popular are Copacabana Beach and Ipanema Beach. Copacabana boasts a four-kilometre-long beach, flanked by a bustling promenade lined with beach bars, cafés and a vibrant nightlife. On Sundays and public holidays, the beach road is closed to traffic and ‘Copa’ is transformed into one huge leisure area. The sultry bossa nova track ‘The Girl from Ipanema’ put Rio’s Ipanema Beach on the world map in one fell swoop. A golden strip of sand flanked by a wide promenade and numerous beach bars. People sit, chat, eat and drink there round the clock. Young and old alike stroll, play sport and flirt. The residential district of Ipanema is home to Rio de Janeiro’s finest shops and chic boutiques.
You’ll find a completely different atmosphere in the colourful Santa Teresa district, nestled in the hills of Rio de Janeiro. Steep cobbled streets, historic houses each with its own story, and cosy cafés and restaurants. The ‘bodinho’, the vintage little train, still chugs its way there from downtown Rio.
Rio’s world-famous carnival hardly needs any further introduction: it is the biggest and most spectacular festival in the world. In short: Rio is sensational!

Pampas

Those who think of Argentina almost certainly think of the Pampa with its gauchos (South American cowboys), horses and empty plains. Just outside bustling Buenos Aires, this part of Argentina begins. Here you will find the typical Argentine gauchos and you can possibly take part in various activities such as horseback riding, carriage rides, cycling or just walking around the beautiful terrain. You will also enjoy typical Argentine meals and the sport Polo in this area.

Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires is undoubtedly one of South America’s most popular cities, a metropolis with a strong identity of its own and a population of over 10 million. Visitors are treated to a wide range of attractions. In the ‘Microcentro’, you’ll find stately buildings, shopping boulevards and, of course, landmarks such as ‘la Casa Rosada’ and ‘Avenida 9 de Julio’ with its towering obelisk. In the old neighbourhoods of ‘La Boca’ and ‘San Telmo’, you can soak up the atmosphere of days gone by, when Italian and Spanish immigrants in search of a better life settled here in the late 19th century. La Boca actually offers the traveller just two streets that are somewhat touristy, and yet you simply must see the colourful little houses here. Of course, Buenos Aires is also known as the birthplace of Queen Máxima and Pope Francis.
San Telmo is the neighbourhood of antique shops and tango performances. It was in these neighbourhoods that this seductive dance originated. In the upmarket ‘Recoleta’ district, alongside exclusive shops and beautiful buildings, you’ll find the spectacular Recoleta Cemetery. Among others, Evita has her mausoleum here.
Palermo is home to extensive green parks and gardens. Palermo Soho and Palermo Hollywood have been on the up in recent years as nightlife districts with excellent restaurants and cosy wine bars. You’ll also find luxury boutiques and designer shops there.
Buenos Aires’ newest district, Puerto Madero, is certainly worth a visit; the old warehouses now serve as shops and restaurants, and amongst the modern buildings, the city’s architects have preserved large cranes and important historic buildings from the former harbour as monuments.

Uco Valley

The Uco Valley is the highest region in Mendoza and the place where some of the country’s finest red wines are produced. These include Malbec, Bonarda and Barbera, as well as Merlot and Pinot Noir. Spend your days with a glass of wine in hand, gazing at the breathtaking views over the vineyards with the Andes Mountains in the background.
Everything in this region seems to revolve around fine food and wine. An ideal place for the bon vivant. We recommend visiting various bodegas in the region. There is plenty to see, and several wineries welcome visitors for an in-depth tour of the estate, followed by a wine tasting – an experience you certainly won’t want to miss.

Mendoza Wine Region

In fact, the name Mendoza is almost a synonym for wine. Surrounded by breathtaking Andean scenery, the wine region of Mendoza is known for its vast vineyards, wide range of exceptional wines and spectacular scenery. Other popular activities include: whitewater rafting, mountain climbing, skiing, horse riding and other adventures in the nearby Andes.

Buenos Aires Province

Located in the Pampa lowlands of Argentina, Buenos Aires province, meaning 'good air', is the country's largest province. Although the province bears the same name as the city of Buenos Aires, it does not include it. The current provincial capital is La Plata, a thriving cosmopolitan city. The province offers spectacularly beautiful natural landscapes, including a stunning Atlantic coast, numerous rivers, sparkling lagoons and the Sierra de la Ventana mountain range. Visitors can explore the cities of Mar del Plata, La Costa Partido, Villa Gesell and Miramar. Sample a range of exceptional wines along Argentina's world-famous wine route; and enjoy a trip to a gaucho ranch to experience the life of the gaucho, with traditional music, dancing, delicious food and horse riding. Don't miss the chance to enjoy the world's best Argentine beef in one of the many steakhouses scattered across the province.

Mendoza Province

Mendoza Province is situated in Argentina's Cuyo region and is famous for its wine, ski resorts, and encompassing the largest mountain in the country. The producers here are renowned worldwide, taking advantage of the variety of soils and creating sublime Bonarda, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Syrah, and Tempranillo. Cerro Aconcagua, an imposing peak at 7000 metres high, and the surrounding national park offer spectacular hiking and climbing opportunities, and the town is surrounded by striking natural attractions such as mountains, valleys and strange rock formations - natural wonder is aplenty. Active types can look forward to white water rafting, kayaking, and other activities on the lakes and rivers in the area, while superb ski resorts provide a high-end experience. Night owls will delight in the lively clubs and cosmopolitan atmosphere in the city of Mendoza.

Southern Andes Argentina

The Argentine part of the majestic Andes is a playground for visitors interested in breathtaking landscapes, adventure activities, alpine forests, the pampas and the Chaco Desert. Alpine towns like Bariloche offer a wide range of outdoor activities, such as skiing and hiking. Another gem is the village of San Martín de los Andes with its spectacular scenery of Lake Lacár, located right on the edge of Parque Nacional Lanín, where outdoor sports and adventure abound.

Copacabana

Copacabana is a vibrant coastal neighbourhood synonymous with leisure, luxury and nightlife. It is characterised by multi-million-dollar penthouses, stunning neoclassical buildings and apartments set against a magnificent backdrop of jungle-clad mountains in Rio de Janeiro. From its humble beginnings as a small fishing village, it has now become a paradise for leisure-seekers, brimming with restaurants, nightclubs, bars and hotels, and exuding a lively, vibrant energy.
Visit Forte de Copacabana, a fort and museum that traces the area’s history from the early days of the Portuguese colony up to the mid-19th century, to learn more about its past. Art lovers will appreciate a visit to The Eva Klabin Foundation (Casa Museu Eva Klabin), a historic house belonging to the famous art and antiques collector Eva Klabin, housing over 1,000 works of art from all over the world. No visit to Copacabana is complete without a trip to the world-famous Copacabana Beach, a 4-kilometre stretch of golden sand dotted with brightly coloured parasols, bars and a popular spot for water sports, football, volleyball or simply lazing in the sun.
