Arrival in Malta
Welcome to Malta! Upon arrival, you’ll be taken by private transfer to your hotel in the charming village of Mellieħa. It’s the perfect base from which to explore the island. During your stay, enjoy the 4-day Malta Multi Pass. Exploring Valletta on foot
Wake up the next day and enjoy a delicious breakfast before exploring the city’s historic streets. Together with your guide, you’ll discover Valletta, which, with just 6,000 inhabitants, is the smallest capital city in the whole of Europe. A city brimming with sandstone buildings, characteristic balconies and colourful doors, where steep alleyways characterise the streetscape. Valletta is framed by towering fortification walls with beautiful parks and sunny terraces, but you’ll also find impressive churches and numerous museums. Valletta is a city you’ll never tire of exploring.
It is one of the most beautiful European cities to visit, and its old town is quite rightly listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Within an area of around half a square kilometre, you’ll find some 320 monuments, making Valletta home to the highest concentration of historical landmarks in the world.
The rest of the afternoon is yours to spend as you wish. Enjoy a drink on a terrace or take a stroll through the charming streets.

An adventurous buggy tour on Gozo and relaxation at the Blue Lagoon
Today, a real adventure is on the programme for the whole family. After breakfast, you’ll set off on the Gozo Buggy Tour, an all-inclusive day trip packed with adventure, nature and variety. Fasten your seatbelts, because you’ll be exploring the rugged and surprisingly green island of Gozo together in a buggy.
Accompanied by an experienced guide, you’ll drive along both tarmac roads and off-road tracks, past impressive coastlines, quiet country lanes and hidden spots that you wouldn’t normally reach. Along the way, there’ll be plenty of opportunities to stop, take photos and enjoy Gozo’s unspoilt nature and authentic character.
During a longer stop, there’s time to relax and enjoy an included picnic, so everyone can recharge their batteries. Afterwards, enjoy a boat trip past caves and along the clear blue coastline towards Comino. You’ll stop for a swim at the famous Blue Lagoon, where you can cool off in the crystal-clear water. Today, you’ll collect a hire car for the coming days, so you can easily explore the rest of the island. Why not start off at a leisurely pace with a visit to the Esplora Interactive Science Centre, included in the Malta Multi Pass, where young and old alike can learn about science and technology in a fun way? For more family fun, Popeye Village, Playmobil FunPark and the Splash & Fun Water Park are also great options for an afternoon of play and water fun.

Day trip to a medieval town, caves and temples
Today, we recommend a visit to the medieval city of Mdina. Mdina is built on a plateau in the centre of the island; the city’s old Baroque buildings, the cathedral and magnificent bastion walls dominate the rural skyline. Mdina was once the capital of Malta until the modern city of Valletta was built in 1566. The only way to truly experience and enjoy this city is on foot. Explore the picturesque alleys, narrow streets, historic buildings and stunning sweeping views from the high bastion walls. Free time for a cup of coffee or tea before continuing with your self-drive tour.
On the way, you can stop at the panoramic viewpoint to admire Malta’s famous Blue Grotto. The Blue Grotto is a natural rock formation created by currents and waves. Over the centuries, the elements have carved out seven natural caves, and when the sun hits the water, it glows a vivid blue. A picture-perfect sight. The deepest point of the Blue Grotto is called the Bell Tower Cavern and lies at a depth of 26 metres.
You can then visit the megalithic temples of Hagar Qim and Mnejidra, the most evocative megalithic structures in Malta, which predate the pyramids in Egypt. Continue your journey to the Dingli Cliffs for a panoramic view.

Valletta
The small walled city of Valletta is the capital of Malta and is situated almost halfway along the island’s north-eastern coast. It is no surprise that the city was named European Capital of Culture in 2018, with its heritage architecture, historic sites, cultural festivals and a strong sense of national pride. The city, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, boasts a number of magnificent Baroque churches, such as St John’s Co-Cathedral, home to Caravaggio’s masterpiece ‘The Beheading of St John’, as well as numerous palaces and museums. History enthusiasts can travel even further back in time by visiting the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum, an underground necropolis dating from around 3600 BC. The Malta 5D Theatre celebrates the country’s history and culture through a unique cinematic experience, whilst the Maltese carnival does so with colourful floats, dancers and bands. Be sure to spend some time on the fantastic waterfront.
Gozo
One of the three largest inhabited islands in the Maltese Archipelago, Gozo is renowned for its unspoilt beaches, ancient ruins and impressive network of walking trails. The island is smaller than its bigger sister, Malta, and has a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere. The landscape is characterised by breathtakingly beautiful coastlines and picturesque scenery, dotted with ancient forts, Byzantine churches and sacred temples. Visitors can look forward to excellent opportunities for diving and snorkelling in crystal-clear waters, a visit to the unique ‘Inland Sea’ surrounded by dramatic limestone cliffs, and relaxing on photogenic red-sand beaches along the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea. History and architecture enthusiasts should not miss the Ggantija Temples in Xaghra; these date back to 3600 BC and are considered to be among the oldest freestanding structures in the world.
Mdina
Mdina is a historic city in the heart of Malta. With roots dating back to the 8th century BC, this beautiful city is situated on a hill and surrounded by fortified city walls. Mdina, often referred to as ‘the Silent City’, is an ideal place to admire architectural gems such as Vilhena Gate and St Paul’s Cathedral, both outstanding examples of Baroque architecture. A special attraction is The Knights of Malta, an immersive multimedia tour that takes visitors back to the 16th century. The National Museum of Natural History, housed in the 18th-century Vilhena Palace, also offers fascinating exhibitions. Just outside Mdina, in nearby Rabat, visitors can explore St Paul’s Catacombs, the island’s largest Roman underground burial complex.

The Maltese archipelago lies in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea. Malta is the largest island in the archipelago. Malta boasts historical sights from a variety of eras. Arab, Italian and English influences are still clearly evident. Thanks to its wonderful combination of beaches, culture and nature, Malta is the perfect destination for a wonderful holiday! The towns of St. Julians and Sliema, for example, have a lively nightlife. Qawra is a quieter spot, and sun-worshippers can relax and enjoy themselves in the beautiful bay of Mellieha.
