Le Commandant Charcot

Le Commandant Charcot is an ultra-modern and luxurious icebreaker, whose very high ice class (Polar Class 2) enables it to reach places inaccessible to all other ships. This makes this ship absolutely unique in its class.

Equipped with the latest environmental protection technology, the ship uses hybrid propulsion that combines liquefied natural gas (LNG) and electric propulsion. This reduces emissions of SO2, NOx, CO2 and particulate matter. In sensitive areas, the use of a battery pack allows sailing in electric mode for very low noise levels. In addition, the ship features energy-saving technology and advanced systems can be found on board for waste treatment and wastewater treatment.

Cruises aboard the groundbreaking Ponant ship Le Commandant Charcot are designed and set up as so-called expedition cruises. On board, experts travel along who give lectures and are available to guests, among other things, while the captain and expedition leaders of the Ponant crew determine suitable locations for daily activities. On board you will find Zodiacs with which to go ashore, and sea kayaks are available to navigate among the ice by yourself. These activities are included. Accommodation on board the ship is fully inclusive. Includes meals and drinks (from tea to champagne)

Le Commandant Charcot has 135 passenger cabins, including 31 suites. All cabins and suites are equipped with en-suite bathrooms and private balconies or terraces. You will also find a panoramic restaurant, grill restaurant and both indoor and outdoor pool and spa on board.
