Cook Islands trip | On a humpback whale expedition with underwater photographer Joshua
Join an exclusive humpback whale expedition in the Cook Islands with keen underwater photographer and expedition leader Joshua Barton, and feel as though you’ve stepped into a nature documentary! Over the years, Joshua’s work has been published in dozens of newspapers and magazines, including National Geographic, International Wildlife, Better Photography, the Washington Post and others.
Snorkelling with humpback whales in the Cook Islands is an enchanting experience. In the crystal-clear waters around Aitutaki, you ’ll come face to face with these giants of the ocean. Their songs echo deep beneath the surface, and when a mother and her calf curiously swim closer, the world seems to stand still for a moment. It is a moving encounter that inspires humility and wonder.
During this unique expedition , you ’ll stay on the idyllic island of Aitutaki, renowned for its turquoise lagoon and white sandy beaches. From here, you’ll set off in a small group of no more than four participants to encounter the humpback whales in their natural habitat. Thanks to the calm conditions, experienced expedition leaders and a respectful approach to the animals, this trip offers one of the most sustainable and intimate ways to experience humpback whales up close.
