Willemstad

Situated on the Dutch Caribbean island of Curaçao, Willemstad serves as the capital and largest city of the Netherlands Antilles. This historic city is renowned for its colourful Dutch colonial architecture and its historic old town, which has been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Santa Anna Bay divides the city into two distinct areas: Punda and Otrobanda.
Must-see attractions include: the floating market from Venezuela, the Chobolobo Country House, which outlines the production process of Curaçao liqueur, Plasa Bieu for an authentic Curaçaoan lunch, and the Kura Hulanda Museum. At the Kura Hulanda Museum, you’ll gain an impressive insight into the Transatlantic slave trade in its entirety, from the capture of slaves in Africa, through their shipment, to their resettlement in the New World. You will also see how Africans, together with their cultural heritage, have influenced Curaçao and societies across the Caribbean right up to the present day.

Tobago

The lush and laid-back island of Tobago is the smaller and less developed of the two islands that make up the Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago. While the eastern side of the island has the oldest protected rainforest in the Western Hemisphere, the western side has beautiful beaches with powder-white sand, crystal-clear turquoise waters and coral reefs teeming with marine life. Tobago is known for its luxury resorts, exceptional snorkelling and diving opportunities and intriguing Afro-Creole culture and lifestyle. If you are looking for archetypal Caribbean beaches, exotic wildlife and some peace and quiet, this little slice of paradise is the place to be.

The Amazon

The Amazon is the world's largest rainforest with biodiversity unmatched anywhere in the world. The Amazon River, together with all its tributaries, forms by far the largest system of rivers in the world. The area spans nine countries including Brazil and Colombia. It is the habitat of 20% of all birds and plants, and 10% of all mammals on earth. The rich flora and fauna exceed any visitor's expectations. By boat and on foot, explore the rainforest and look for monkeys, parrots, crocodiles and other jungle animals!

Belem

Rio de Janeiro is a world-class city! This metropolis, where (beach) life goes on 24 hours a day, has so much to offer that even the ‘Cariocas’, the residents of ‘Rio’, cannot decide when asked to name their favourite feature of their city. Rio lies on a strip of land approximately 24 kilometres long, nestled between the mountains and the sea; lush greenery on one side and vibrant blue on the other. It is home to a population of 8 million who seem to have a monopoly on the concept of ‘Beach Beauties’: beach culture was invented in Rio.
The world-famous, 38-metre-high statue of ‘Christ the Redeemer’ stands high on the summit of Corcovado Mountain, from where it embraces the city in its arms and blesses it with an all-seeing eye. Sugar Loaf, the mountain shaped like a loaf of sugar, is one of Brazil’s most photographed sights.
Then there are the beaches; the best known and most popular are Copacabana Beach and Ipanema Beach. Copacabana boasts a four-kilometre-long beach, flanked by a bustling promenade lined with beach bars, cafés and a vibrant nightlife. On Sundays and public holidays, the beach road is closed to traffic and ‘Copa’ is transformed into one huge leisure area. The sultry bossa nova track ‘The Girl from Ipanema’ put Rio’s Ipanema Beach on the world map in one fell swoop. A golden strip of sand flanked by a wide promenade and numerous beach bars. People sit, chat, eat and drink there round the clock. Young and old alike stroll, play sport and flirt. The residential district of Ipanema is home to Rio de Janeiro’s finest shops and chic boutiques.
You’ll find a completely different atmosphere in the colourful Santa Teresa district, nestled in the hills of Rio de Janeiro. Steep cobbled streets, historic houses each with its own story, and cosy cafés and restaurants. The ‘bodinho’, the vintage little train, still chugs its way there from downtown Rio.
Rio’s world-famous carnival hardly needs any further introduction: it is the biggest and most spectacular festival in the world. In short: Rio is sensational!

Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires is undoubtedly one of South America’s most popular cities, a metropolis with a strong identity of its own and a population of over 10 million. Visitors are treated to a wide range of attractions. In the ‘Microcentro’, you’ll find stately buildings, shopping boulevards and, of course, landmarks such as ‘la Casa Rosada’ and ‘Avenida 9 de Julio’ with its towering obelisk. In the old neighbourhoods of ‘La Boca’ and ‘San Telmo’, you can soak up the atmosphere of days gone by, when Italian and Spanish immigrants in search of a better life settled here in the late 19th century. La Boca actually offers the traveller just two streets that are somewhat touristy, and yet you simply must see the colourful little houses here. Of course, Buenos Aires is also known as the birthplace of Queen Máxima and Pope Francis.
San Telmo is the neighbourhood of antique shops and tango performances. It was in these neighbourhoods that this seductive dance originated. In the upmarket ‘Recoleta’ district, alongside exclusive shops and beautiful buildings, you’ll find the spectacular Recoleta Cemetery. Among others, Evita has her mausoleum here.
Palermo is home to extensive green parks and gardens. Palermo Soho and Palermo Hollywood have been on the up in recent years as nightlife districts with excellent restaurants and cosy wine bars. You’ll also find luxury boutiques and designer shops there.
Buenos Aires’ newest district, Puerto Madero, is certainly worth a visit; the old warehouses now serve as shops and restaurants, and amongst the modern buildings, the city’s architects have preserved large cranes and important historic buildings from the former harbour as monuments.

Brazil

Brazilian Highlands

The Brazilian highlands are vast, covering about half of Brazil's landmass. The highlands consist of dramatic landscapes, rolling hills and mountain shrines, green forests, tropical jungle and deep canyons. With the fertile Amazon lowlands to the west, the highlands stretch all the way to the Atlantic Ocean, where they drop dramatically along the coast to form the "Great Escarpment". The area is of astonishing beauty and biodiversity, with a wealth of flora and wildlife.

Amazon Basin

The Amazon is the world's largest rainforest with biodiversity unmatched anywhere in the world. The Amazon River, together with all its tributaries, forms by far the largest system of rivers in the world. The area spans nine countries including Brazil. It is the habitat of 20% of all birds and plants, and 10% of all mammals on earth. Surpassing and mega figures aside, a stay in the jungle is surely the way to turn numbers into experiences. The rich flora and fauna exceed any visitor's expectations. By boat and on foot, explore the rainforest and look for monkeys, parrots, crocodiles and other jungle animals!

Here you will find the typical Argentine gauchos and you can possibly take part in various activities such as horseback riding, carriage rides, cycling or just walking around the beautiful terrain. You will also enjoy typical Argentine meals and the sport Polo in this area.

Nicknamed 'Land of the Hummingbird', the republic of Trinidad and Tobago consists of two main islands and a large number of satellite islands in the far southern Caribbean Sea, just off the coast of Venezuela. Trinidad is also known as the 'Rainbow Island' because of its melting pot of cultural influences. It is mainly shaped by its proximity to Venezuela, reflected in the island's cuisine, traditions and lively parang music. It is a lively destination with a vibrant nightlife with regular nightlife, the debauched Carnival Festival and a range of smaller annual events. Tobago, in the northeast, has four very different coasts, each with its own charms, including an abundance of idyllic palm-fringed beaches. Located in the Pampa lowlands of Argentina, Buenos Aires province, meaning 'good air', is the country's largest province. Although the province bears the same name as the city of Buenos Aires, it does not include it. The current provincial capital is La Plata, a thriving cosmopolitan city. The province offers spectacularly beautiful natural landscapes, including a stunning Atlantic coast, numerous rivers, sparkling lagoons and the Sierra de la Ventana mountain range. Visitors can explore the cities of Mar del Plata, La Costa Partido, Villa Gesell and Miramar. The state of Rio Grande do Norte is located on the northeastern tip of Brazil. A popular destination for local tourists, the tropical shorelines of Rio Grande do Norte (such as those in the municipality of Maxaranguape) are famously pristine - boasting, as a 2011 NASA study indicated, the 'cleanest air in the Americas'. The state’s capital, Natal, is home to two wonderful beaches (Praia de Ponta Negra and Praia dos Artistas). It is highly recommended to walk to the Forte dos Reis Magos - the 1598 fort that led to the establishment of Natal - which offers great views of the city, the shoreline, and the nearby Rio Potengi.

Corumbau Marine Extractive Reserve (Portuguese: Reserva Extrativista Marinha do Corumbau) is a coastal marine extractive reserve in the state of Bahia, Brazil. The reserve was created in 2000 to help protect the traditional local fishing economy, which was suffering from predatory commercial fisheries. The coastline’s idyllic powdery, palm-fringed beaches of the area make it all the more appealing.
