North America is vast and has vast climatic differences, so the ideal travel time depends on the region you are visiting. Each season offers unique opportunities. Here is a handy overview:
West America
The best travel time is spring (April - June) and autumn (September - October). Temperatures are pleasant then and ideal for a self-drive along national parks such as Yosemite, Zion and the Grand Canyon.
East coast United States
Spring and autumn are the most beautiful, with mild temperatures and colourful landscapes - remember the famous Indian Summer in New England (September - October).
Florida & Deep South
The finest period to travel with pleasant temperatures is spring & autumn; the Deep South and Florida can also be very well visited in our winter.
Canada (Western Canada and Eastern Canada)
The best months are June to September, when nature is at its best and parks like Banff and Jasper are fully accessible. For whale watching in places like Newfoundland or Saint Lawrence Bay, summer is also ideal.
Alaska & Yukon
Travel here during the short but beautiful summer months, June to August. This is the time for glacier tours, wildlife spotting and exploring the vast wilderness.
North America is a year-round destination; with the right timing, you will experience each area at its best.
