Discover the highlights of Morocco

During your tour to Morocco, it is worth combining beautiful cities with the desert, the Atlas Mountains and, of course, the coast. Visit the almost mythological King's Cities (Imperial Cities), such as Marrakesh, Meknes and Fes, with their medinas, gates and lively markets. These cities are among the most famous destinations in Morocco and give an excellent insight into the country's rich history and culture. In addition, picturesque coastal towns such as Asilah and Chefchaouen are well worth a visit, ideal for a beach or coastal holiday. Hire a car and explore the mountains, or experience the impressive vastness of the magical dune region of Erg Chebbi, part of the Sahara. The starry skies here are breathtaking. Choose a hiking trail through Talassemtane National Park or Toubkal National Park. The waterfalls of Ouzoud in the High Atlas offer refreshment at any time of year.

Morocco is a country with diverse climates and seasons, each offering its own charm. The best travel time depends very much on your interests and the region you want to visit. Below is an overview by season:

Spring (March - May): An excellent time to explore the country. Nature is in bloom, temperatures are pleasant and the desert landscapes come alive. Ideal for city trips to cities like Marrakech or Fès and for hiking in the Atlas Mountains before the summer season begins.

Summer (June - August): The warmest period, especially suitable for those who want to visit the coast. Popular destinations include the beaches of Agadir and Essaouira, where the sea breeze provides coolness. It can be very hot in the mountains and desert, so many travellers choose cool mountain areas or the Atlantic coast.

Autumn (September - November): A pleasant time with mild temperatures and fewer tourists. Nature shows a different splendour, especially in fertile areas like the Dadès Valley and the oases. It is a perfect period for cultural discoveries and visiting the medinas at a more leisurely pace.

Winter (December - February): For those who don't shy away from the cold, Morocco offers surprising opportunities. In the mountains, such as the High Atlas Mountains, you can enjoy winter sports and snowy landscapes. At the same time, the cities and coastal areas are relatively mild, offering a pleasant escape from harsher winters elsewhere.

Note: Morocco has large regional differences in climate. The coast is usually mild, the mountains cool to cold, and the desert has extreme temperatures. For travellers who want to avoid crowds and enjoy pleasant weather conditions, spring and autumn are usually the best seasons.

1. Do I need a visa for Morocco?
No visa is usually required for travellers from the Netherlands, Belgium, the EU for stays of up to 90 days. However, it is important that your passport is valid for at least six months upon arrival. Always check the latest entry requirements for your nationality before you leave.

2. What is the best length of trip for Morocco?
An average tour of Morocco lasts between 10 and 21 days. This gives enough time to leisurely explore different regions such as bustling cities, the Atlas Mountains, the Sahara and coastal resorts. With shorter distances, a 7-8-day stay is also quite feasible; you then choose one region.

3. Is Ramadan held in Morocco?
Yes, Ramadan is held in Morocco. Muslims fast during this period from sunrise to sunset, pray more often and give alms. Ramadan falls in a different period every year. Life during this period is a bit slower than normal. Outside the accommodations, there is often little food/drink available and at some attractions, stricter rules are imposed from the government. Our travel specialist will be happy to inform you further about this.

4. Are there certain dress codes in Morocco?
Modest clothing is appreciated in Morocco: cover shoulders and knees in public areas. Wear beachwear only on beaches or near swimming pools. Shoes should often be taken off before entering and women must cover their heads.
