Hike to the villages of the Sasak ethnic group

Today, you’ll experience and sample some of the highlights of the Sasak ethnic group – the indigenous people of Lombok. You’ll start with a three-hour walk with your local guide, who will lead you through rice fields, plantations and kampongs (small villages) – a wonderful way to observe the daily life of the local people. Continue to the village of Pringgasela, where you can have lunch in a garden, known in Indonesian as a ‘kebun’ – a place where local farmers gather to rest, chat and enjoy a cup of coffee. Here, you’ll be introduced to a variety of Sasak delicacies. After lunch, a local guide will take you to the village, where you’ll see how the women weave traditional songket fabric by hand. Before returning to your hotel, you’ll visit the village of Masbagik – where pottery is still made using traditional methods.
