137 Pillars House
The 137 Pillars House was built in 1889 to house the manager of the British East Borneo Company. It has been restored into a boutique hotel with 30 suites. The hotel's whitewashed buildings are decorated in a traditional 'lanna' style and the former house is the centrepiece. They are set around a beautiful lawn on which High Tea is served every day. The original house takes centre stage and features the Parlor Lounge and an extensive library. All suites combine colonial-era elements with rattan furniture, free-standing Victorian-style baths and black-and-white photographs of Thailand in the early 20th century, along with a full range of modern amenities. Dinner is served in the hotel's dining room or outside in the courtyard, and Thai cooking classes are available for anyone looking to improve their culinary skills. There is also a swimming pool, a spa and a small gym.
