Kafunta River Lodge

Kafunta River Lodge

Kafunta River Lodge is owned by Anke & Ron Cowan, who have made the Luangwa Valley their home for the past 20 years. The lodge, consisting of 10 rooms, is built on the banks of the Luangwa River, away from the busier area at Mfuwe gate. During high season, the lodge has access to the national park through its own gate.

The lodge has a spacious bar and dining area. It offers stunning panoramic views of the Luangwa River and South Luangwa National Park. Great safaris and bird watching from the lodge are guaranteed.

Adjacent to the bar is a refreshing swimming pool. There is also a unique hot tub, which is fed from a spring on the grounds of Kafunta and offers a constant temperature of 38 degrees. Here you can enjoy pure relaxation while being presented with stunning views of the Luangwa River.

Pack for a purpose
Kafunta River Lodge is affiliated with Pack for a Purpose. Pack for a Purpose is a charitable organisation that allows travellers to spend several kilos of their luggage weight to help local residents. Think school supplies, clothes, medical equipment and other necessities donated to the local project through the lodge. To make sure you bring what is actually needed locally, the lodge explains the project.
