Contribution and commitment
Responsible tourism
Travel offers a wonderful opportunity to contribute to conservation, animal protection and poverty alleviation. With a small contribution, the biggest involvement is created.

Travel offers a wonderful opportunity to contribute to conservation, animal protection and poverty alleviation. With a small contribution, the biggest involvement is created.

In recent decades, responsible tourism has contributed to more and more natural areas being declared National Parks and some of the necessary revenue was generated to protect these areas. Species were saved from extinction, millions of underprivileged people found jobs and put poaching activities aside, among other things. A focus on Responsible Tourism actually makes a difference to many people and animals and can even contribute to a better understanding between cultures and on global issues.

With our own foundation, the Avila Foundation, we are co-owners of 'Casa Blanca' and 'Casa Grande'; two centres in the Sucre province in Venezuela, where underprivileged children are offered daily hot meals and opportunities to play, learn and dream. We also support several small-scale forest projects in Botswana, Colombia and Indonesia and have made donations in recent years to the World Wildlife Fund, the Jimmy Nelson Foundation and Sol y Luna in Peru, among others.
As a travel company, we have a big role in ensuring that responsible practices are maintained throughout the chain, from transfer, to accommodation, to local agent and, of course, with ourselves.
Avila Travel's mission is to operate responsibly with focused goals that contribute positively to nature conservation, poverty alleviation and the involvement of local communities.
Together with our employees and partners, we strive for higher standards of responsible tourism and motivate and advise our travellers to travel in a more sustainable and responsible way, so that we can enjoy our beautiful planet not only today, but also in the distant future.

From 30 April 2021, we are proud to be a Travelife Partner. Travelife is a leading international management and certification programme for travel companies and accommodation providers that want to operate sustainably. With this status, we meet more than 100 criteria, covering office management, product offering, international business partners and customer information.
The Travelife standard covers ISO 26000 corporate social responsibility themes, including environment, biodiversity, human rights and labour relations.

Sustainable travel, travelling responsibly according to the ANVR. ANVR sees sustainable travel as a responsibility of all parties involved in the travel sector. As the first travel industry organisation in the world, ANVR, together with all member travel companies, has committed to taking measures in the areas of transport, accommodation and entertainment with the ANVR Sustainability Vision.
We strive for emission reduction and social, economic and environmental sustainability when putting together our trips, so that both you and future generations can enjoy our trips.

When putting together our trips, we consider people, environment, nature and culture, so that the holiday is not only special for you, but future generations can also enjoy attractive destinations. Whether it's holidays where you enjoy pristine nature, experience local culture, meet new people or taste a delicious local dish; together we work on holidays that make for better places and more beautiful experiences. And in doing so, we make an important contribution to sustainable developments at the destination. For you as a traveller, but also for the people living at the holiday destination.
Fight child abuse, also abroad!
We actively support ANVR and Defence for Children - ECPAT in combating child exploitation in holiday countries. We invite you to be alert with us and report suspicions of child abuse at www.dontlookaway.nl, even if committed abroad! More information on combating child abuse is available from the tour guide.

Pack for a Purpose is a charitable organisation that allows travellers to spend several kilos of their luggage weight to help local residents. Think school supplies, clothes, medical equipment and other necessities donated to the local project through the accommodation.
To make sure you bring what is actually needed on site, the accommodation provides explanations about the project. On our website and in our travel suggestions, we provide additional explanations at participating accommodations.
